Who was Slaughter in their past life? Well they were Vinnie Vincent Invasion, before Mark and Dana Strum left Vinnie...thats who. 

Vinnie Vincent Invasion formed in 1984 by former Kiss guitarist Vinnie Vincent.

Bassist Dana Strum had been a recruiter for bands such as Kiss and Ozzy Osbournes and it was he who picked Vinnie for Kiss. Vinnie asked him to become the bassist for Vinnie Vincent Invasion.

Initially, the band was doing a hunt for a "mystery singer" they had received a cassette tape of because he hadnt left his name.

So in the interim, they had hired ex-Journey Singer Robert Fleischman.

After cutting the song "Boyz Are Gonna Rock", the mystery was solved.

Now the following is a fact about me as well...this "mystery singer" is also the singer that yours truly wished he had a voice just like for a full 5 years. Thats right, in my drumming heyday, I always fantasized about being able to sing just like Mark Slaughter. If there were such things as voice transplant, Mark would be running from me like he was in a horror movie... 

Fleischman promptly left after Mark was found and the video of Boyz Are Gonna Rock is actually Mark "miming" over Fleischmans voice.

SHOCKING!! They do sound a lot alike IMHO.

Vinnie Vincents' 2nd album with Mark on board, was called "All Systems Go".

It contained the hits "Ashes To Ashes" and "Love Kills" which was used on the

Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master soundtrack.

In 1988, the band was released from their contract and Mark and Dana Strum left Vinnie due to their perception that Vinnie was dominatiing their projects, and they then formed "Slaughter" who made the hit that I live by:  'Up All Night"
