Keep sucking up to the enemy libs!

Current mood:  disgusted
Category: News and Politics
..Today marked the 31st anniversary of the "Islamic revolution." People all over Iran have been celebrating and protesting. Azadi Square was full with tens of thousands of flag-waving supporters for the main event...President's Ahmadinejad's speech. The speech was full of deep-seeded hatred aimed at the U.S, Britain and Israel. Ahmadinejad also announced how Iran has successfully produced its first stock of 20 per-cent enriched uranium. Iran is now a nuclear state.
Most foreign journalists are banned from Iran. Those that remain were bussed to and from Azadi Square and barred from reporting on anything else
. The tyrannical rulers in Iran have done everything they possibly could to limit the coverage for todays celebrations. Western journalists have been denied Visas to enter the country. The internet, as well as phones, have been interfered with.  The few foreign correspondents that are over in Iran operate under severe restrictions. Officials over in Iran claimed that 200 members of foreign correspondents were "cleared" to cover the anniversary. We have a very limited view of what is actually going on over there. By the way, I would also like to mention how Iran is the number 1 country for jailing journalists and this is according to the International Press Institute.

So what is going on over in Iran today? Well, from the reports we have been given, government opposition w
ebsites claimed a young woman named Leila Zareii was killed and many others were wounded or arrested both men and women alike.  Security forces used live ammunition, knives, teargas and paintballs that would enable them to identify protesters. They were backed up by water canon, new Chinese anti-riot vehicles and helicopters. This is what happens when you allow tyranny to take over!

So where are all of you "peace loving" bleeding heart liberals now? It baffles me how most of you forget how the same people who supported the 9-11 attacks are still out there planning and hoping for America's demise. WAKE UP! It doesn't look like Obama kissing butt to the rest of the world is doing us any good. Iran hates us just as much as they did when Bush was in office and they are now a nuclear state!

When will enough be enough? Is America going to have to have some catastrophic event happen in order for everyone to start thinking and seeing clearly? I pray that some of us, who aren't drones, won't allow it to come to that point.

You know that famous picture of Bush waving "Miss Me Yet?" I think we should make a parody of that sign with the Shah, going in Farsi language "Miss Me Yet" with shadows of Ayatollah Khomeini and Mahmoud the idiot in the background.

No kidding, Michael! Protesters were tearing up pictures of Ayatollah Khomeini today and being beaten in the streets for it! Oh but Iran is a "peaceful" nation, right? Pfft. These hippies don't even know what's going on in the rest of the world. If they want world peace then why don't they go try to have a tea party over in Iran with Ahmadinejad to let him know what they think.

a lot of jews don't support the state of Israel...  so not agreeing with what they do is not racist.  it's a criticism of a foreign government's actions.  with that said, personally i pretty much agree with israel, cause they're badasses.  remember the 7 days war?  they could decimate every nation in the world if they wanted to.

It is possible to oppose the policies of the modern state of Israel -- indeed, even the existence of Israel, as a state which is by definition racist -- without necessarily being anti-Semitic. I'm not saying this to defend the fanatics of Iran, whom I abhor as much as you do; just to point out that there's nothing particularly racist about being opposed to racism!

Obviously, Jacob, it was founded to be a homeland for people of a particular race, and membership of that race is considered sufficient qualification for citizenship. The definition of 'Jewish' in this case is not one of religious belief. Therefore, it is fair to call it 'racist'. I'm sure that I don't need to remind you of the ethnic cleansing that went on in the early years of the modern state.

You obviously know nothing about Israel, about racism or most probably about neither.

I presume that you are referring to the Law of Return, Israel is an independent country and as such it has the right to determine who comes in and under what circumstance they come in, it is called self determination.

As to the Arabs that left in 1948, they left on the behest of the Arab counties, this is a fact. It is also a fact that those Arabs that decided to stay went on to become Arabs with more freedom and human rights than any other country in the Middle East.

It is also a fact that the Arab countries that hosted the Arab Refugees, locked them up in concentration camps like and kept them in sub human condition as political pawns. Until June 1967, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip was in the hand of Jordan and Egypt (respectively), what did they do for the Refugees?

But why let pesky facts get in a way of a good sob story.

More Kleenex?

Jew.  Jewish.  Judaism.  These words do not describe a race.  We are an ethno-cultural group.  There are black and white African Jews, there are Asian Jews, there are Hispanic-Latino Jews.  There are Jews in the Baltic countries, Scandinavia - everywhere.

We are not a single race.  Period.

An 'ethno-cultural group' would be one that is characterized by a common culture and a common ethnicity (i.e. race). The situation is complicated in the case of the Jews, because the definition of a Jew has not always been the same. The basic idea is that every Jew is a descendent of the biblical Jacob (a.k.a. 'Israel'), i.e. it's literally racist. But at various times and places individuals and groups have converted to Judaism, and spoken of themselves as children of Israel when they have literally not been such (although many have then gone on to intermarry with other Jews). And, of course, it seems very unlikely that even three thousand years ago, everyone who claimed to be a descendent of Jacob really was one.
The mediaeval Christian position was that Judaism was a religion, and that by abandoning that religion (for example, by becoming a Christian) one ceased to be a Jew. The Nazi position was that Jewishness was racial, so that becoming a Christian or an atheist was no protection from persecution. The state of Israel offers citizenship to everyone who is Jewish by descent rather than by practice or belief; for entirely understandable reasons, its definition of Jewishness is similar to that of the Nazis; and hence racist.

ethnicity does not equal race.  race is based on skin color.  ethnicity is a group of people who share a similar culture and ancestry.

And remember that it was "ethnic cleansing" by pogroms and the Holocaust which created the need for a state to house Jews in safety.  And of course decades of prejudice which saw Jews forced into ghettos and into specific occupations - such as moneylending - which gentiles didn't want to do.  It was the gentiles' abandonment of this area of endeavor to the Jews that got us started with banking, by the way.  Now you say we want to control the world.  Jews are in banking because gentiles didn't want to dirty their hands.

Do you realize how tiny this piece of land is and how much the Muslim/Arab world has?  Do you realize how tiny - and happy with it - Israel would have been if the establishment of the state had been accepted in 1948, instead of the surrounding nations' vowing to drive the Jews into the sea?

Sheesh.

Indeed, you are correct that Israel was created as a response to European anti-Semitism, which I abhor. There are reasons why everything is as it is. I was simply pointing out that criticism of Israel, and even opposition to the existence of Israel, are not necessarily racist. (There are Jews who are opposed to the existence of Israel.) I did not say that the Jews want to take over the world; you may be confusing me with Hitler.
Personally I think that the establishment of Israel was a mistake, but that it's one which we have to accept and live with. The big problem is that Muslims are forbidden to give up any of the lands of Islam; a slightly smaller problem is that there are Israelis who believe in the promise that was allegedly made to Abraham, and want Israel to be even bigger than it is. Until both Jews and Arabs start to take their religions less seriously there seems to be little hope for peace in the region.

The land belongs to THEM? Some of their ancestors used to live there, thousands of years ago. Does that give them more right to live there than people whose ancestors were living there a hundred years ago?
No doubt the land on which you live used to be the property of some indian tribe. Suppose that the descendents of those people made an alliance with powerful aliens, and used super-weapons to evict you, your family and your neighbours from your homes; would you say then, 'Well, it's their land really!' I don't think so.
So what's the difference? Moses and Joshua said that God had commanded them to invade Canaan, slaughter or enslave its inhabitants, and take their homes; and you (I suppose) believe that he did. It looks to me like a vile lie invented by men to justify their all-too-human greed and aggression. The obvious modern parallel is with the Muslim claim that God wants them to conquer the world. Funny how God should have to rely on human beings to do his dirty work of killing and conquering, isn't it; how he should just give us books which look for all the world as if they were the work of ignorant and power-hungry men?

..We know that the majority of Muslims oppose violence, but I've read that approximately 10 percent of them worldwide support violent attacks on "infidels." That's about 100 million people worldwide who think it's acceptable to blow up busloads of Jews, planes and skyscrapers full of people of any religious faith, including muslims who happen to be there as holy jihad is waged. Can you imagine the alarm which would be raised if 10% of Christians supported suicide bombers? Or even 5%, or 1%?  Anytime a person commits a violent crime claiming to be doing it in the name of Jesus, there is condemnation from every Christian church from Rome to Roanoke. Muslim atrocities are renounced by far fewer clerics, and cheered by an alarming number of their members. Aggression is central to Islam, a Muhammad himself killed or commanded the death of many. This is just the reality we all face.
