Block most MySpace ads (updated 3/27/09)

Category: MySpace
There is a simple way to block most MySpace ads.  This works in Internet Explorer 8 but there are likely comparative steps that could be taken for all other browsers.  Please note that even though a site may be on your browser's restricted list, that is not a guarantee that it won't slip through sometimes.

In Internet Explorer 8, go to Internet Options > click the Security tab > Click Restricted Sites > Click the Sites button.  Type in the following sites exactly as they appear below one at a time and click Add after each one:
*.2mdn.net
*.adhostingsolutions.com
*.ads1.msn.com
*.ads2.msn.com
*.adshuffle.com
*.advertising.com
*.atdmt.com
*.btradv.com
*.casalemedia.com
*.cms.myspacecdn.com
*.dailyfill.com
*.doubleclick.net
*.edgesuite.net
*.euroclick.com
*.fastclick.net
*.fimserve.com
*.fimservecdn.com

*.gcion.com
*.googlesyndication.com
*.interclick.com
*.mediaplex.com
*.msads.net
*.pulse360.com
*.r.msn.com

And the most important one has to be encrypted in this blog because MySpace won't let it be posted like those above.  It is (star) (dot) (advertise) (dot) (myspace) (dot) (com).
When finished click Close, then click OK.  You might have to restart your browser to see the full effect.  I haven't seen any ads on MySpace since doing this; just a blank white space.  This will also affect any website that uses any of the sites blocked.
Feel free to add comments with any other sites that should be added to the list or instructions on how to do this in other browsers.

Firefox users can download an add-on that will block all scripts, except for those from sites you indicate as trustworthy.  Download the add-on here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
