Comments to "Done Looking For My Faith":

Queen of Coins

I know a LOT of Mormons. I have had many friends and even family that belong to that church. Almost ALL of them are very nice! They are clean living individuals....and they scare me a little bit.

One of my cousins wasn't allowed to attend her sister's "real" wedding in the temple because she didn't tithe a certain percentage of her salary to the church.

Thank you for the information! I didn't know some of these things. I'm quite sure you made the right decision :P

My dad told me that my Aunt belonged to a mormon church and at that time she was on public assistance (single mother of 5) for her children, and her Church wanted HALF every month of her public assistance check. Now thats TOTALLY wrong. I dont know if they were LDS though, they might have been fundamentalists Mormons.

Anyway, taxpayers wouldnt want public assistance used for that.

There are so many things wrong in different religions that I just dont fit into any category 100%, whats next? the unitarian church? lol

How about the Church of no resistance...AHHH!!! now THAT sounds good.

Naked women feeding me grapes...etc hahaha jk

Sorry, can't go the Mormon faith. Too much like a cult. I won't go into all the particulars but the special underwear alone keeps me out.

I would hate to see what religion that test would say was best for me.

I'm Methodist. They are very open minded and accept everyone including gays and lesbians. I'm not a bisexual, but I have lots of friends who are gay and I can't agree with a faith that doesn't embrace them.

I looked it up. It's called a temple garment. My in laws traveled to Utah and she said she saw them on clothes lines everywhere and asked someone what they were. Here's what Wikipedia has to say about it.

Out of mind experiences LMAO.

You notice it HAD to be GOLD plates.

Seems like it could have been silver or stainless steel just as long as it had a good message on it.

Wikipedias is a good source for basic information. However, since it is user written and defined it can contain errors, even outright lies. On serious matters use it to direct you to other sources for complete accuracy.

Having lived and worked in Utah, I've had a good share of dealings with Mormons. They are for the most part upright and decent folks. My biggest problem with their belief system is that they set up humans to be more or less equals with God. THAT is the oldest lie in the book (In Genesis Satan and his crew espouse this concept, that "they can be like God".) I will not seek a preist or "higher" member of a religious society to direct me to God. I have God's e-mail, and home phone number, I can communicate with Him whenever and however I choose.

Most of the Atheist crowd claims that religion is simply a tool to control the masses. To a certain degree they are correct. My view is that "religion" and God, are two entirely separate things. To me "religion" is the search for, and coming into some sort of alignment with God. I personally don't believe that God really gives a flying shit about what "brand" of religion you follow, just as long as your heart is pure in your intentions. Whether you be a Mormon, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Buddist, Whatever.

God made all people. People of color, men and women, gays, everybody. Why? Only God knows that answer. Be if we profess to be followers of God, then we MUST accept all of His creation. Whether we understand it or not, whether we like it or not.

Does anyone else get the signifigance of the term "King James Version"? It was ordered to be written by a King! And before that, there were many "versions" in several languages. Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, etc. For those who speak another language, you KNOW things do not always translate exactly from one to the next. Not to mention at least a dozen or more "other books" of the Bible which were just disposed of.

In the end, God represents Truth. Seek only the pure truths, and reject the obvious lies. You'll find your way to the Creator.

That was a kickass comment Alex.

I'll do this by section:

Yes, I know this about Wikipedia and just got done telling Stephanie the very same thing you said to me about it. However, the stuff that is written about the Mormons really leaves no room to argue with anything said. It all seemed very feasible.

About Mormons wanting to be equal to God, THAT was the BIGGEST reason I said NO to this religion. I am a realist and i do not believe that ANYBODY has powers more than the man to their left. This means I do NOT believe in psychics, faith healers, palm readers, astrology/horoscopes etc etc..
The only thing I DO believe in, is a supreme creator and the possibilities of souls/spirits loose in our world.

I also totally agree with your stance that the "organized" religions are to keep order among mankind and this is also how I see the Bible.

your statement: "then we MUST accept all of His creation"

you said it!! And how, Amen and Here Here!! lol

My ENTIRE being is EXACTLY those words Alex. My whole mission in LIFE is those words Alex.

NOW you know WHO I am. :o)
my words were "equal treatment to ALL" and thats exactly what you just said in different words.

I know ALL about the King James Version because in my debate about same sex marriages schooled me right quick on that.
I was for SSM and the friends on my side were very well educated on how the writing of the King James took place.
There were omitted chapters partly because one of the translators purposefully did not show up for the translating process because there was a political breaking of rules in how it was done.
Also you must step into a Kings position and see that he has to do whats BEST for his people, while at the same time, not looking like a looney.

Also I know full well about a lot lost thru translation. Even in hispanic language, there are a lot of words that cant be transferred from English to Hispanic.
My daughter dated and is married to hispanics only, so they let me in on a lot of that.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Alex, you're "real" and I admire that.

The Police said it best.

There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution
Have no faith in constitution
There is no bloody revolution

We are spirits in the material world

Our so-called leaders speak
With words they try to jail you
They subjugate the meek
But it's the rhetoric of failure

We are spirits in the material world

Where does the answer lie?
Living from day to day
If it's something we can't buy
There must be another way

We are spirits in the material world

"There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution "

And this is the reason that if the Bible was correct at the time it was written,
we need a NEW one for NOW (troubled evolution).

Very good lyrics there Alex.

My dad once said that he feels closer to God when he's out in the woods.
The bible speaks of more spiritual power made by congregating, but as Alex pointed out,
some of that is probably just a way to control people into behaviors they think is appropriate.

Dont think you're going to get away tonite without me hearing your voice on BTR Terri...lol

I too look to the great outdoors to find my "special" place with the universe...To me that is god, that is church....not a stuffy airconditioned building...I don't think god wanted it that way...Open your doors, that IS Gods house

And you came, you heard, you laughed and I rocked....thank you, thank you very much....lmao

I'm so excited about the special underwear thing I can't really type. What is it? Am I wearing it now? Am I wearing underwear now? I have lost my ability to reason.

That being said, a lot of hatred is perpetuated in the world by prejudice against GLBT folks. Why anyone ever decided to get worked up in the first place about who sticks what in whom or rubs whose thing against whose other part boggles my mind.

I believe in one spirit running as and through all life. The same force that created the cosmos created you and acts through you. There is no separation.

That's true even if you prefer to stick your pee-pee in someone's poo hole. Got it, boys and girls?

I believe in a God, Creator, Whatever you choose to call her. I do not believe in the church or organized religion. The Bible is just a book written by men. It has good things and bad things in it, but it's still a book written by men and men have their own agenda. Men have left out many things in retelling of the story as well as changing thing in the story to help or support their own agenda at the time it was written. I have no way to say what is the truth in the Bible for I have not studied ancient lounge nor am I a scholar in ancient religions. I have read enough of the Bible to see there are things in it the do not ring true. At least to me, I can only give my take on this subject and you can agree or disagree that is your right.

We all have to do what we see as right for ourselves.

Thanks for sharing I enjoyed your blog. Alex made some very good points.

hey Peg,
Yep Alex has the very same feeling that I do about this subject.
It doesnt really matter in the long run to me if I dont belong 100% to a certain labeled religion.

I was really just curious on what to label myself now that my attitudes have changed over the years since I was a kid.

There are contradictions in the bible yes, so theres nothing to disagree with Peg.

You got it right.
How people can live their lives as righteous slaves to a man written book, I dont know.
Just seems like too BIG a sacrifice to make with this short life we all have (if there is no afterlife).
