how to give 2 kudos

Current mood:  accomplished
Category: Web, HTML, Tech
I get emails from time to time asking "How do you give blogs 2 kudos like that?". Rather than keep emailing people individually, I thought I'd just blog it.

Remember the "KudoGate" scandal from the Summer of 2009? People trying to "level the playing field" by helping all their buddies rank? Well the Great State of MANtana decided to level it more by bringing the WORST blogs on MySpace out to the forefront and drowning out the cheaters with BILLIONS and BILLIONS of kudos.

MANtana Citizens look out for the little guy.
We're benevolent little bastards that way.

MySpace eventually fixed the glitch and make it so you can only give 2 kudos, but KudoGate already had a few casualties, most notably a "Top Blogger" who left defeated. But the LULZ were worth it.

Here's how it was done.

First, you need a Firefox Add-On called Firebug. It's also a useful tool for web developers who can make quick changes to a web page's source code. I love it!

* Highlight part of the "(Give Kudos)" link.
* Right click and select "Inspect Element".

* From the bottom, this will pop up and you will see the javascript code like you see highlighted  on the right.

* Click on the "Edit" button.

* The code will be clearer to see.
* Change the next to last "1" to a "2".

* It will now look similar to this...

* Click on the "(Give Kudos)" link and....

Now go out and amaze all your friends...
