 | Current mood:  geekyCategory: MySpace  Greetings...This is one of my music videos entitled "FLIGHT TO ORION" in MySpace and YouTube versions. I will put them into seperate sections and show you how much better the MySpace Videos are than the YouTube versions. I'll show how to get rid of the video name and bottom links in MySpace videos and also show you how to resize both videos. I put up both versions below for you to WATCH and LISTEN to and let you be the judge of which looks and sounds better. I think the choice is pretty obvious.....MYSPACE !!!! The video examples below are with the actual EMBED code with nothing added, changed or deleted. IMPORTANT !!!! ....You have to click "if you can't input your blog, click here" to put the blog editor into HTML mode, THEN you can paste the EMBED code to put your video into a blog.   To find the code for a Myspace video, look right below it and copy the " VIDEO CODE " that is hi-lighted.  Paste it into Notepad and save; this makes it easy to keep it backed up for future use and easy editing. To find the code for a Youtube video, look to the right of the video and copy the " EMBED CODE " that is hi-lighted  These are the codes you need in order to put them in your profile. You can paste the code into any of your sections like the example below:  Like I say, you should copy the codes into Notepad for future use or editing. It saves you the time of having to go and find the video again to get the codes.  FLIGHT TO ORION Add to My ProfileMore Videos  This the actual VIDEO CODE for a Myspace video: FLIGHT TO ORION Add to My ProfileMore Videos This is what it will look like when pasted into your profile, I'm only using screenshots here so the actual videos above will load and play better. The light blue background was added to show the links only !!! It won't show when you paste it into your profile.  If you want to get rid of the TITLE and LINKS below the video, use this part of the code: It will then look like this:  This is how to resize your MYSPACE videos: See this part of the code ? "height="346" width="430" You can change the number values to the size you want. Keep in mind you should do the numbers in the same ratio of 4:3. If you change the width number to "230", change the height number to "185". I'm no math genius, but I figured out the ratio numbers by creating a "New" image in my photo editor program and making the width "430" and height "346". When I resized it, I made sure the "keep aspect ratio" box was checked and when I resized the width to "230", it changed the height to "185". Of course, you can always experiment and change the numbers anyway you want. Just fool with the numbers and you will see what I mean. This is the size I use for the videos in my custom video table: " height="185" width="230" and this is what it looks like:  Notice the controls ( volume, mute etc ) are overlapping ? They are circled in red:  There is not much you can do about it, but the controls still function. The icon circled in blue is a ZOOM button that will enlarge the video, that still functions also. I checked around to see if there if was a piece of code to add so that it would shrink down properly with the video, but was told by King/Cosmos that it's not possible because it's part of the flash video.  This is the actual code for a YouTube video: This is what it looks like in a blog  HOLY SH*T, BATMAN...WTF !!!! There are white borders at the top and bottom. Let's try it on our profile page:  ROBIN, I AGREE...WTF !!!! Use this part of the code if you want to get rid of those "annoying" white borders:  PROBLEM SOLVED !!! This problem never occurred before for me until recently when YouTube changed the codes. This does NOT happen with all Youtube videos !!! Some show up bigger with no white borders, some come out smaller with the borders. Don't ask me why....lol. I was surprised when I saw the youtube videos show up with those white borders. I just chose one of my videos at random to use in here and the Youtube version showed up with the white borders. **** LOOKS LIKE YOUTUBE HAS CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM...SORT OF ****. As you can see in my Youtube video example near the top, the white borders are gone now. There are black borders on the video now and it is contained to the "inside" of the video, giving it a "WIDESCREEN" video effect. It looks a lot better like that, but it stretches the video height. Here's how it looks with the full code:  and the edited code:  It didn't remove the black borders, so it looks like this is the new look for them. If it changes again, I will update this again. These are the " new " features you will find when using the FULL code:  Resizing YouTube videos works the same way as the MySpace ones. This YouTube example is resized to the same size I used for the MySpace video, which is: width="169" height="220">  Notice the lower controls shrink accordingly with the video ? That's because of the coding they use, which is nice. It doesn't "overlap" like the MySpace videos.
